S-TEC System 30 Autopilot, 2-axis 14v with GPSS and Dir Gyro, w/ Guarantee $3800

This is a complete system except for the brackets you'll need to install it. It is a 2-axis autopilot with lighted Heading Indicator (DG), a $2000+ option, plus the GPSS (GPS Steering) add-on, a $2400 option. I purchased this 'working as removed' from a Mooney but I have decided to build a homebuilt RV and use the autopilot that comes with the avionics for that airplane, and sell my S-TEC autopilot. All components look good, and are very clean. The wiring harness is complete and un-cut, and could be directly re-used as long as the wire lengths are sufficient. See detailed pictures below.

Guarantee

I originally bought this system on eBay without testing it and without a guarantee, but was told it was working, and it looks to be in very good condition (see the pictures). Guaranteeing such a delicate system is a tricky business as it is easily damaged by careless handling or even testing, but I realize this is an expensive item so here's what I'll offer: Get this tested by an FAA certified avionics shop ('Repair Station') that is authorized to install it within two (2) weeks of receipt. If it does not work as described I will refund your payment less shipping upon return and receipt of the system in the same condition in which it was shipped. HOWEVER, for this to apply I will require a written report from the certified avionics shop that describes the problem in detail along with contact information (phone number) of that shop and the testing technician so I can call them and discuss any issues in detail. All these conditions must be met for a refund. I will ask you to agree to this by email before shipping. I'm still taking a risk, but I believe this is fair for both of us.

The Facts About Certified Airplanes

This autopilot is currently about $15,000 from Chief Aircraft, plus installation, so could be considered a very good deal. It is intended primarily for a certified aircraft, and S-TEC has STCs for most any airplane. However, you will need to purchase the STC (the 'paperwork') to legally install it in a certified airplane, which while I honestly haven't researched it will likely cost over $1000. You'll also need the correct brackets for your airplane. Finally, you'll need to find a certified shop to install it. Again, if you are either installing this in a homebuilt or are using the components to replace components in your current S-TEC installation then you don't need a new STC. Or, if you use this purchase to add Heading (DG) or GPSS to your current S-TEC autopilot you won't need an STC for that, either, and you could then sell the complete basic autopilot that you're not using.

All for $3800 plus shipping and insurance depending on the shipper you prefer
